Chromodoris luteorosea has following characteristics :
- a purple mantle with yellow border and large rounded yellow spots edged in white
- the rhinophores and gills are purple with or without white dots

Chromodoris luteorosea looks very similar to Chromodoris luteopunctata. These 2 species can be distinguished according to their spots :
- the spots are much larger in C. luteorosea than in C. luteopunctata
- in C. luteopunctata the spots aren't encircled with white ring
Bill Rudman suggests that they could be just one variable species.
