Chromodoris strigata grows to 4cm in size and it can be identified by following characteristics :
- the mantle is white edged with yellowish orange
- the mantle pattern consists in 5 black bands : 2 around the rhinophores and gills, one in the middle and 2 in front of the gills. However, some specimens have only 3 bands
- the rhinophores and gills are yellowish orange
- the foot is similar to the mantle : it is white with black bands and it is bordered with yellowish orange
