In the Mediterranean and Atlantic there are 3 similar Dendrodoris species :
- Dendrodoris grandiflora which can be distinguished from D. limbata by a larger mantle border and the lack of the yellow edge to the mantle
- Dendrodoris limbata which can be distinguished from others by the yellow mantle border
- Dendrodoris herytra which hasn't any yellow border and which can be distinguished from D. grandiflora by the gills size : they are large in D. grandiflora and very short in D. herytra. This species hasn't been seen in Mediterranean until now.
