Glossodoris ghanensis is recognisable according to following characteristics :
- the mantle is grey, slightly tuberculous, with black spots and orange or yellow dots
- the mantle edge is orange or yellow, preceded by an uniform blue band
- the rhinophores are greyish-blue tipped with orange
- the gills are grey with an orange line on each gill

Glossodoris edmundsi is considered by Bill Rudman as a synonym of this species.
