Hypselodoris picta is the biggest Mediterranean doris. It can grow to over 15cm in length.
Hypselodoris picta is very variable in colour : either it is the yellow which prevails, or it is the blue.
Rhinophores and gills can retract to well visible sheaths.
There is an entire yellow line on the internal side of each gill and a dotted line on the external side.
Rhinophores are uniformly blue with a yellow ring on the base of each rhinophore.This species has a lot of synonyms :
