Notodoris minor has distinctive characteristics easy to see, and which permit to identify it clearly :
- the body is high and elongated, yellow in colour with black lines
- in the centre of the back there are 3 protective tubercles which hide the animal's gills
- specimens can grow to 6-7cm

It seems that Notodoris minor changes the rhinophores colour growing : the juveniles, which has black rhinophores, lose this colour as they grow up. The adults have yellow rhinophores.

Notodoris minor feeds on the sponge Pericharax heteroraphis.
