Phyllidia multifaria
has following characteristics :
- tall pale tubercles are separated by black lines
- the tip of some tubercles is pale yellow and is coloured almost the same as the mantle
- the rhinophores are yellow
- the sole of the foot is pale with median black line

Phyllidia multifaria was synonymised by Brunckhorst (1993) with Phyllidia elegans. But Bernard Picton thinks that this is a full species and here are the distinctive features he suggests :
- the tubercles are taller in P. multifaria
comparing to P. elegans
-
the yellow tubercles are paler in P. multifaria

It seems that Phyllidia multifaria is the same as Phyllidia schupporum Fahrner & Schrödl, 2000 ; and that we can consider P. schupporum as synonym of P. multifaria.
